Scarce, local.
Characteristic small size makes this moth unmistakable within the genus.
Flies actively over heather in afternoon sunshine and again at sunrise.

Sweeping heather with a net is the easiest way to obtain both adults and larvae. Note Coleophora pyrrhulipennella can also be swept from Heather.

Larval cases closely resemble sprigs of heather (best found by sweeping April - May)
